Just a quick post, sorry no photos. Yesterday on the 22nd September went to Mt Stromolo Forest Park. I was riding on a bit of single track there on the northern side just below the summit of Mt Stromolo and came across one of the biggest brown snakes I have ever seen. Normally, I would have enjoyed the experience but not when travelling at speed on a bike. The snake had just enough time to rear up at me as I jumped over it. It was a close call for both of us! Anyway I watched the snake for five minutes or so after this. It is the first one I have seen this season.
While on the subject of Mt Stromolo, This season I have seen more Jacky Dragons there than I have anywhere else. They seem to be everywhere on the mountain but in particular on the eastern side around a track called The Bobypin and on the western side heading towards Deep Ck. Would be a good place to photograph them, provided you don't get run over by us mad mountain bikers
Cheers
Joe
